Why volunteer with Habitat?
Meet like-minded people
With the advent of social media, people today are more isolated than ever. Volunteering is one of the best ways to meet others in your community and make new friends.
Improve your health
Volunteers have been shown to have better health outcomes than non-volunteers. If you are looking to improve your physical, mental, social or spiritual health, volunteering is a good option.
Get work experience
Hiring managers are more likely to hire applicants with volunteer experience. In addition to learning new skills, volunteering shows that you are an active member of your community who is looking to make a meaningful impact in your work. You can also grow your professional network and include your volunteer role on your resume.
Give back to your community
Perhaps you’ve benefited from social services in your life or you feel fortunate for the opportunities that you have been given? Volunteering with Habitat is an excellent way to pay it forward and help families in need.
Support a good cause
Our volunteer make a lasting change in the lives of families and individuals in Columbia County. Habitat homeowners contribute sweat equity by helping to build their homes alongside our volunteers. By helping families achieve the dream of homeownership, we help them grow generational wealth which, in turn, strengthens the entire community.
